Carrie and Dave were married at the Motorco Music Hall in Durham, North Carolina in June of 2018. Erica is intimately familiar with this venue, not only through coordinating events; her own wedding took place here in 2016! Carrie and Dave’s wedding just so happened to take place in this space during the weekend Erica’s second wedding anniversary… and something of a tradition for Erica, since Lesley and Evan’s wedding also happened at Motorco on her anniversary weekend! Motorco is an eclectic venue that plays host to parties, festivals, and concerts. It’s truly a fantastic indoor venue for people who love music and dancing, which made it an ideal fit for Carrie and Dave.
They chose to have their First Look at the 21c Museum Hotel inside an antique vault on the premises. The vault has an Art Deco flare thanks to the antique metal walls and glass ceiling lamps. From there, they moved to the showroom at Motorco Music Hall which was transformed by Folie à Deux Events using bright, colorful party decorations, as well as bold, unique floral designs featuring shades of pinks, oranges, and violets. One of the most popular pieces was their arch adorned with paper fans and honeycombs in a rainbow color palette. Another surprising & playful touch was the custom piñatas designed to look like the happy couple.
Parts and Labor, Motorco’s culinary wing, provided an eclectic array of bar snacks, barbecue, and Mediterranean delights with bite-sized cupcakes and dessert bars commissioned by Matta Durham. Everyone was enjoying the party in full-swing, even people who weren’t part of it! That’s right… Carrie and Dave’s wedding attracted actual gate crashers from another event nearby. Tipped off by their glow sticks, as the ones for Carrie and Dave had yet to be set out, it was a quick matter to send them back to their own party. In retrospect, though, it’s a fun anecdote for the attendees as well as the newlyweds to tell for years to come.
