Rebecca and Dane were married at the Chapel Hill Carriage House in April of 2018. A rustic, waterfront venue complete with friendly goats. They selected the carriage house in part for its centralized location for many of their loved ones. With lush, rolling green lawns, an open barn-like reception hall, and meticulously kept grounds that fit all seasons, the Carriage House was the perfect setting for this salt-of-the-earth wedding.

Growing up, Rebecca attended the Carolina Friends School in Durham. The school utilizes Quaker values while maintaining a secular and inclusive atmosphere for all of its students. When it came time to choose the officiant for their nuptials, they chose a former principal of Carolina Friends and a ceremony heavily borrowed from traditional Quaker weddings. Exchanging their vows in the round and sharing in song, Rebecca and Dane completed their union with a moment of reflection for themselves as well as those celebrating with them.

While the bridal bouquet and boutonnières were creations of Victoria Park Florist, the table arrangements were created with loving care and homemade charm by the bride’s family and friends. The flowers were provided by Wild Scallions Farm and were featured as part of the rustic and splendid decor for their big day.

Hillsborough-based Beau Catering provided the buffet for the reception, and their self-described Carolina menu with a California twist was a real crowd pleaser! Another crowd pleaser was the four-tier hexagonal wedding cake crafted with supreme panache by Ambrosia Cake Creations. Adorned with hand-sculpted cardinals in red and gray and covered in pristinely-smoothed buttercream, the layers featured such flavors as almond with amaretto chiffon and raspberry pastry filling for the very top, vanilla with strawberry pastry filling and cream cheese for the second, chocolate with chocolate mousse and Bavarian cream for the third. Finishing it off, the almond top layer was repeated for the largest layer of the cake.

For cocktail hour entertainment (as well as the musical backdrop during the nuptials), the father-of-the-bride and his bluegrass band serenaded the revelers. As a further show of love for the happy couple, all of their bridal party and groomsmen provided a group toast full of light-hearted anecdotes and affectionate testaments to the strength of their union.

The vendor team went above and beyond to ensure Rebecca and Dean had the nuptials they always dreamt of — every I was dotted and T was crossed to ensure a smooth experience as well as a day to remember! Between the attention to detail by the vendors and venue staff as well as the heartfelt efforts of family and friends, Rebecca and Dane’s rustic carriage house wedding is one for the books.
