Kate & Brandon’s Boho Festival Wedding at McDonald Artisan Farm

Kate and Brandon’s boho festival wedding at McDonald Artisan Farm in Aberdeen, NC was such a delight and I am so glad to have been involved. In January 2017, I met Kate and two of her bridesmaids for a beer at one of my favorite spots in Carrboro, Steel String Brewery. We had connected through the Bridechilla podcast, she heard one of my episodes and realized how close by I lived! The folks I meet through Bridechilla are always awesome and Kate was no exception. Kate and Brandon were planning their wedding for October of 2017 on their family’s venue, McDonald Artisan Farm, where they hold festivals, markets, and summer camp! The historic property has become an important part of the community in Aberdeen, NC and they hoped to also do weddings at the farm, starting with their own.

Community played an important role in Kate & Brandon’s wedding planning. Their friends and families contributed in many ways to the day. Surrounded by friends who also happen to be amazing creative professionals themselves, they were able to build an event team that also cared deeply about them and their relationship. Their friend, Annie – the spectacular florist at Folklore Flora designed and arranged all the flowers for the day. Kendra, of Pinehurst Photography, was another life long friend of the families and knew basically all the guests!

Their wedding featured so many unique and fun details. Their dinner was a box-lunch style picnic with a selection of homemade sandwiches from family recipes, homemade pickles, and sides all packed in a cute little box! They had a popcorn maker and pie table… it was like being at the fair! Friends and family contributed appetizers, pies, and other treats for the dessert table.

Patti of Indigo Earth Events provided beautiful vintage rentals and also made their stunning wedding cake! If you are looking for vintage, boho inspired rentals, definitely get in touch with her!

This was a crew that liked to party, dancing late into the night. We were lucky to have incredible weather and a gorgeous venue. I highly recommend McDonald Artisan Farm if you are looking for a rustic venue in the Sandhills area! Ok, now on to the gallery!
