An Eco-friendly Wildflower Wedding Celebrating Love and Sustainability
Silvan & Jordan were married last October at one of my absolute favorite venues, Rock Quarry Farm in Chapel Hill, NC. Their environmentally conscious, wildflower wedding was one of my favorites of the season.I loved getting to know Silvan and Jordan and their friends and family. Everyone was so kind, an absolute delight to work with.
Both Silvan and Jordan are interested in farming, sustainability, and supporting local agriculture, so they sourced all their wildflowers from local growers in Chapel Hill. Those marigolds were some of the most aromatic I have ever experienced! The couple and their wedding party designed the bouquets and centerpieces, while I created and installed their magnolia and marigold ceremony garland.
Their love of nature, their enthusiasm for music and dancing, and their passion for amazing, farm-to-table food combined to create a fun, memorable, and environmentally conscious wedding. Leaving a low impact on the environment, but a big impact on all the guests!
One of my favorite details of their wedding was the pot-luck dessert table provided by their family and guests. There were at least 3 types of pies, vegan cakes, brownies, and cheesecake! Something for everyone!
Flowers to Go!
At the end of the evening, as the party was wrapping up, my assistant and I took the flowers and broke them up into small Bouquets-to-Go for the guests to take with them as their favor. This way their flowers could live on with their guests for a few days more and not go to waste just because the event was over! I highly recommend this at all my events, guests love getting to take a small bouquet and it helps manage the breakdown of the event as well!
I am so excited to return to Rock Quarry Farm next year for another wedding. Ever since my first visit, for a beer festival in 2015, Rock Quarry Farm has been one of my favorite places in the Triangle. Both as a wedding pro and a guest of their venue, Camille & Miles have made me feel at home, every time I am there.
I always love a chance to work with folks who place a priority on sustainability in their wedding planning. We are lucky in Chapel Hill and the Triangle to have a wealth of resources and wedding pros who share this value. Making it much easier to be kind to the environment, support local farmers, and even give back to the earth through your event. The wedding industry as a whole is pretty terrible for the environment. The least we can do is try to change things on a local level, one wedding at a time!
