I am so excited to share Evan & Lesley’s totally rad & colorful Motorco wedding from July. For those who don’t already know, Motorco is an extra special venue to me because it’s where I got married too! Being back for another Motorco wedding gave me all kinds of feels!
Meeting with Evan and Lesley for the first time last January was like meeting with old friends for coffee. We had a ton in common and similar opinions on what a wedding should be and feel like. Wedding planning with these two was an absolute dream. In part because they had really cool ideas and most importantly, they knew what they did and didn’t want for their wedding.
Evan and Lesley have been a couple since they were teenagers and so getting married was hardly the beginning, simply the next lovely chapter in a very long love story.
It was awesome to see how Evan and Lesley expressed their creativity and each took on tasks that suited their skills and personalities. Evan designed and created awesome lighted centerpieces from vintage electrical insulators and LEDs. They built their ceremony arbor to give the showroom at Motorco Music Hall a garden party feel! They also leveraged their community to source their flowers and cakes from the gardens and bakeries at NC State where Lesley works. One of the cakes was a chocolate cake made from beets!
The flower arrangements and decor were assembled on the day with help from their family and wedding party. It was great to have a team of helpful hands and it added to the community focused aspect of their event.
From the decor to the playlist, Evan and Lesley’s day was full of unique and meaningful details. Lesley’s family are a musical bunch and her parents sang her down the aisle to “Sunrise, Sunset” from Fiddler on the Roof. After the first dance they kicked off the dance party with the Time Warp led by Lesley and her Mom! Their dance party incorporated everything from classic rock, to 90’s jams, to show tunes!
Kenna from NC Secular Weddings officiated their ceremony, and get this – when they met to discuss the wedding for the first time, they realized that Kenna used to babysit for Evan and his family! They hadn’t seen each other in years, but it was a fun little detail that everyone got a kick out of!
Shout outs are due to the amazing crew of vendors and to Motorco Music Hall – our team for Evan and Lesley’s wedding was almost exactly the same crew from my own wedding at Motorco – exactly a year earlier! Yes, I celebrated my own anniversary by coordinating another couple’s wedding at the same venue and with many of the same event pros! I made sure to bring home cake and some of Motorco’s delicious noodles for my husband. 😉
