April 2019 | Cannon Room – Raleigh, NC
Floral Design by Folie à Deux Events
Katie and Fernando were married at the Cannon Room in downtown Raleigh in April, 2019. Folie à Deux Events designed the florals and provided some of the decor for their colorful, spring wedding. We met Katie and Fernando at The Love Party Expo in the summer of 2018, and they walked straight up to our table and said “Hi! We came here to see you!” Katie had seen our Palm Springs inspired photoshoot at the Cannon Room from earlier that year, and knew she wanted our help with designing her wedding and creating a vibrant, joyful event for her guests.
Katie and Fernando loved spring flowers like poppies, ranunculus, and tulips and wanted to highlight mostly local flowers. Katie’s sister in law, Lily, is a flower farmer as well, so Lily and Katie’s sister Jenny, assisted in the design process and even built a custom copper arbor for the ceremony.
Nearly 90% of the flowers or Katie and Fernando’s wedding were locally sourced through Piedmont Wholesale Flowers, Burkett Farm, and Wild Scallion’s farm.
Some of our favorite details from the day included the bloom packed bouquets featuring Colibri and Icelandic poppies, Ranunculus, and Peonies. We also adored creating a piece for Katie and Fernando’s sweet dog, Soup du Jour! The ceremony arbor with it’s floating floral garlands was another favorite design element of ours.
Katie and Fernando’s wedding also gave us the chance to work with two of our favorite wedding vendors, The Cannon Room, and photographer, John Branch.
PS – if you love their copper arbor, Lily & Jenny actually sold it to us after the wedding, so it is in the Folie à Deux Events Decor Inventory waiting for it’s next ceremony!
